Dealing with NO...

I was the Key note speaker at the Missouri Reentry Conference last year. I was asked to come speak because the theme of the conference was "The Faces of Reentry. They wanted to highlight people who had been to Prison and came home and changed. Because of the show "The Long Road Home" they thought my story was interesting and wanted to hear my story.
You can see some clips of the conference here and parts of my speech.

It was a huge honor, and my "Talk" was well received.

I am what I am...

So as a semi-public figure, I am always trying to keep things light when it comes to my post. There is nothing more despicable (daffy duck voice) then when some "star" tells there fans how they should feel about current events, politics, etc... I respect the people who read my post enough to know that they are smart enough to make up there own mind. You don't need me to tell you how to feel.

That being said...
I am a christian. At the very core of who I am, I believe. I am not the best christian.

So sometimes I get board... when I don't have a show on the road, and I sit and look at the computer for too long, I get a little stir-crazy... so here is a video I made today.  Enjoy!

Moving SUCKS!!!

So we are just about moved in to the new home of theLong Road Home! As most of you know, we moved to Savannah, GA then moved back to the St. Louis Area (Smithton, IL). Lots went into the move and move back, that is a story for another time. Anyway, here are some lessons that I have learned.
1. You can do it yourself, but you will have a sore back and a few scratches on all your stuff!  I saved some money by packing and moving DIY Style, but I didn't bubble wrap everything and there are a few (more then a few!

Back on the Stage!

This past weekend, I got back on the stage after a three month layoff. During that time I moved to Savannah, GA,got my TV Show optioned, lost my father in December, drove back home twice (800 miles one way), found out that some people are full of poop, spent a ton of money, and moved back home!  We are still looking for a house and living out of a suitcase.  Needless to say I have a lot to talk about on the stage!

This next weekend I am on the road again doing shows up in Indiana (check out the events page

I'll knock your teeth down your throat...

A friend of mine used to say that to their kid... "I'll knock your teeth down your throat".  And even though the kid out-weighed her, was stronger than her, and could stomp a mud hole in her ass and walk it dry...when ever she said it, the kid quit doing what he was doing and walked the line.

You know why? Because he had been taught respect. It wasn't fear, it was plain old thanks for reminding me who I am and what I should be.

Could you imagine being in a store today and hearing a parent tell their kid "I will knock your teeth down your throat?

Just in case it ends...

Just in case the world ends in a few days I wanted to take the time to say thank you to my friends, fans and family.  I have been blessed with some amazing people in my life.

There was a time in my life that I didn't even love my self... I was self-destructive, angry and reckless. I lived only for the next hour and did not give one damn about the future and left a trail of broken promises and heart-break in my wake.

At some point in my life I had that "moment" where I woke up.

The STL Mag and a great story...

30,000 people....SAY WHAT!!!

In the last month including other social media outlets, Dean Schardan, comic and inspiring Reality TV host, will have reached almost 30,000 people. That is the strangest thing I have ever said. I am honored and scared at the same time.
I love that I can spread my message to people and share my story (DEAN SCHARDAN'S LONG ROAD HOME
